His gallery space features white-washed, exposed brick walls displaying a variety of vibrantly colored canvases, an art style Ellis describes as “cutting-edge, contemporary pop art.”

Ellis is no stranger to the neighborhood – or the arts. In addition to his paintings, he has designed and built over 30 music studios in Brooklyn and Manhattan. His most successful studio, The Lodge, was the mastering studio for Foo Fighters’ "Wasting Light," which was awarded the Grammy for Best Rock Album in 2012. Ellis is a longtime musician himself, previously leading vocals for the rock group “Nitromusk.”

Ellis Studio/Gallery is a regular stop on the popular “Made in Brooklyn Tours” and takes part in Dumbo’s monthly Gallery Walk, during which local art exhibits, restaurants and bars have specials and extended hours.

David’s experience in multiple creative fields, his synergistic bonds with other DUMBO artists, and his generally chill attitude make him an ideal representative for the character of what really is a vibrant neighborhood.
